March Madness!

Although it is technically Spring, winter is hanging on strong with temps in the 30’s and more snow anticipated this weekend! New England has been graced with a great ski and ride season, which continues on. There has been 200.5 inches of natural snow recorded at Loon so far!

The South Peak Resort Warming Hut is a great gathering place for owners, friends and family and had over 400 visitors this season. Owners enjoyed warmer temps and sunning on the deck at its closing last weekend.

The South Peak Resort owners shuttle service ended last week. There are two more days to utilize Loon’s South Peak trails, Lincoln Express Quad, Tote Road Quad, Pemigewassett Base Camp and our new homeowner lift the weekend of April 2 – 3. You can still shuttle from lodge to lodge on Loon’s regular buses, for schedule click here.

Loon Mountain's projected closing date for the season will be Sunday, April 17th, 2011. If you would like to know which trails and lifts are open at any given time, check Loon's Lift and Trail report here.

Thank you for a great winter, everyone! We really enjoyed hosting you, sharing laughs and conversation in the South Peak Resort Warming Hut, and at our Winterfest, Demo Day, and the numerous Aprés Ski gatherings.

Stop by for information and to hear of new developments any time at either of our office locations: South Peak Resort Information Center (by Loon's Octagon Lodge) and South Peak Resort Sales Center (corner of Cooper Memorial Drive and Route 112, Lincoln). Stay tuned for South Peak Resort upcoming summer activities!

South Peak Resort Demo Day - A Huge Hit!

Set up began at the South Peak Resort Warming Hut around 7:30 in the morning that day to gray skies and flurries. We could see the reps from the ski companies setting up near the Pemigewassett Base Camp. After a few minutes everyone enjoyed the continental breakfast that was available in the Hut!

Registration started at 8am. One by one our South Peak owners arrived, eager to sign up for the Demo Day Activities! The ski reps set them up with skis of their choice, and off they went. (For those that are unfamiliar with the South Mountain side of Loon Mountain, it features the following runs: Boom Run, Ripsaw, Undercut, Cruiser and Escape Route. These runs are a mix of blue, black diamond and double black diamond, which is perfect for trying out different types of skis. It allowed the demo-ers to ski soley on South Mountain if they so wished).

The BBQ was delicious, to say the least. The skies, by that time, were cloudless, and the sun shone down on the Hut's deck while everyone enjoyed burgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken, chips, pickles, you name it! Everyone had tons of fun taking a break from demo-ing and getting together to share a few good laughs and discuss skis.

Finally, it was time for the day to wind down. Many joined us at the South Peak info office to indulge in a fun Apres Ski social, compared notes on the new 2012 skis and learned more about South Peak Resort on Loon Mountain's latest developments and real estate information.

It truly was a fantastic day, all compliments of Terramesa Resorts. We had a great time and we know our owners and their guests did, too. Many thanks go out to Loon Mountain Sports and all Loon staff that made the day a huge success!!

In other news, New England Disabled Sports' Kostick Kup was last Saturday, March 12th, 2011. It was a huge success, and South Peak Resort was a proud sponsor of the event. The dinner and auction that followed was a blast; additionally, it featured an incredible member of our South Peak Resort Community. The New England Disabled Sports Center was dedicated to Robert Harney, MD at the event. The facility will now be known as the Dr. Bob Harney Adaptive Sports Center. A founder and past President of NEDS, Dr. Bob is a world reknowned leader in the adaptive sports industry. Many thanks go out to all that make New England Disabled Sports such an awesome organization.
